Directory Information -- The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA, also known as the Buckley Amendment) provides that “directory information” about a student is available to the public. Colorado State University defines directory information as student name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, classification (year in school), and major. You have the right to request that the University withhold directory information and not disclose it to the public.
If you wish to restrict public access to your directory information, you must file a request in the Office of Records and Registration. If you do not file such a request, this information will be published in University directories and given upon request to the public by mail, phone, or in person.
Financial Aid Information -- The applicant and their parent(s)who provided information on their financial aid application may request information on the form. The student's Colorado State University ID (CSUID) number is required. Financial aid information will not be released to any other party without the applicant’s expressed written consent.
Student Account Information -- Student account information will be released to only the student, who must provide proper identification. If the student is claimed as a dependent by either parent on the current tax return, both parents may obtain this information. The student's Colorado State University ID (CSUID) number is required. Account information will not be released to third parties without the expressed written consent of the student account holder. If the student is a dependent for tax purposes, he/she may not restrict access to parents who have a legal right to know.
