Collection Accounts - Late Payments
If you are having difficulty keeping your University student account current, here is some information to help...
Past due accounts may be assigned to one of two collections units.
CSU Collection Service, Special Assets
- In most instances, past due accounts are initially assigned to Special Assets, the University's internal collections office. Special Assets staff attempt to identify the account holder and arrange for the account to be paid.
- If arrangements are set and maintained, the University is permitted to retain the account until the balance is paid in full
- Special Assets can be reached at 970-491-7058.
State of Colorado, Central Collections Service (CCS)
- Accounts that do not get resolved at Special Assets must be assigned, as required by state statute, to the State's Central Collections Service.
- CCS staff work with contracted third party collection agencies to resolve the past due debt.
- CCS will apply the full range of collection efforts to resolve the debt, including but not limited to credit bureau reporting, tax offset, wage garnishments, and legal action.
- Central Collections Service can be reached at 800-221-2297
