Scholarships for Incoming Colorado Resident Freshman

To be considered for the following scholarships, students must apply for admission by the priority filing date of February 1 and be admitted and meet all eligibility criteria by March 1 (unless indicated otherwise). Scholarship recipients will be notified by Student Financial Services shortly after being admitted. All University scholarships require recipients to meet the House Bill 1023 requirements.

- Alliance High School Graduates


For 2010-2011, students who graduated from an Alliance high school will be awarded the Partnership Award for $10,000 ($2,500 per year). Alliance High School graduates who fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and document financial need may qualify for up to the student's share of Colorado resident tuition and fees. Must submit a complete application for admission by March 1 and be admitted as a new CO resident freshman.

- Green and Gold Scholarship


For 2010-2011, $8,000 ($2,000 per year) awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. Other factors considered include leadership, extracurricular activities, service to school or community, and special talents.


- Honors Scholarship


For 2010-2011, $4,000 ($1,000 per year) awarded to students who participate in the University Honors Program. For more information about the Honors Program, please visit the University Honors Program website.


- Partnership Award


For 2010-2011, $10,000 ($2,500 per year) awarded to students who submit a complete application for admission by March 1, are admitted as a new CO resident freshman and meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • Participated in one of the CSU Partnership Programs

  • Graduated from an Alliance High School (see list below)

- Creative and Performing Arts Award

Award amounts vary and are awarded to students with talent in art, creative writing, dance, music, or theater. To apply, contact the department from which you wish consideration.

- First Generation Award

For 2010-2011, $16,000 ($4,000 per year) awarded to students who demonstrate financial need, are admitted by March 1, and demonstrate potential for academic success. Student's parents must not have received a bachelor's degree. Students must complete and submit the First Generation Award Application through the Center for Advising and Student Achievement website by March 1 (a separate application - not the CSUSA). Students must also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than March 1.


- Monfort Scholarship

  • Tuition and fees, room and board stipend, and a book allowance. Covers student's share of tuition and fees. Renewable for six additional semesters provided requirements are met.

  • Colorado resident entering freshman who submit a complete Application for Admission (including transcripts, test scores, processing fee, essay, and letter of recommendation) and meet specific academic criteria by February 1. Must rank in the upper 5% of graduating class or #1 or #2 in a class of fewer than 40 students, SAT combined critical reading and mathematics composite score of at least 1300 or ACT of 30, evidence of leadership, service to community and school, and outstanding character. 

  • Complete the Colorado State University Scholarship Application (CSUSA). The CSUSA is available online at RAMweb beginning December 1. The deadline is March 1 at 11 p.m. (MST). Go to RAMweb at ramweb.colostate.edu and login using your eID. Select the CSU Scholarship Application link. Be sure to complete the Monfort Scholarship section of the CSUSA. 

  • The Monfort Scholarship requires letters of recommendation and transcripts. These must be received by March 1. For further information, visit the CSUSA as soon as possible on or after December 1.
