Self-created Scholarships

Self-created scholarships are ways that students can reduce some of their costs while they are in college.  See examples below:

  1. Latte Scholarship– make your own coffee instead of buying lattes
    • $4/day, Monday through Friday for the academic year is a cost of $640
  2. Book Scholarship- buy used books instead of new books
  3. Rent Scholarship- find reasonable rent that includes all utilities
  4. Car scholarship- watch the car drain on your budget; financial aid funds for an education do not include car payments, or car insurance
  5. Transportation Scholarships- ride your bike or take the bus for free
  6. Parking Scholarship- avoid parking tickets and parking permit costs
  7. Late Penalty Scholarship- pay all bills early or on time to avoid late penalties
